The Amazing Ledge Point to Lancelin 25km Water Marathon!

The Lancelin Ocean Classic, Australia’s longest running windsurfing event will be held on 15 – 18 January 2015!

Now in its thirtieth year, the four-day event will bring together professionals and amateurs who will fight it out for supremacy and a competitive prize pool across a range of windsurfing, kite-surfing, and jet-skiing events. The event is part-funded by Tourism WA and boasted a roster of more than 4000 competitors in 2014.

The Lancelin Ocean Classic also features the 25km Ledge Point to Lancelin Windsurfing Marathon which currently holds the Guinness World Record for Longest windsurfing race.

The marathon is a downwind course of approximately 25 kilometres and over the years has seen from 200 to 400 starters, many entering to try to complete the gruelling course and claim a share of the $25,000 prize pool. Wave sailing is the more spectacular discipline with over 50 competitors sailing in four man heats trying to out manoeuvre each over with the highest aerials or radical wave riding.

Last years kite events were very popular with many attempting the downwind Marathon for the first time and we expect a large number of entries again this year with the downwind race on Sunday afternoon. There should also be plenty of action in the new Waves event on Friday plus the impressive freestyle event on Saturday before the marathon race.

There will also be high octane action with a jet ski race series on the Saturday in Lancelin Bay so keep an eye and an ear out for these adrenalin junkies.
